Players once believed sinking through the ocean floor would teleport you like a mystery portal, but it's actually just a crude anti-softlock mechanic: past the manually-built seabed, the floor turns non-solid and dumps falling players into Blue Hell, then random-teleports them so they don't fall forever. The 'portal' was never intentional — just developers not bothering to extend solid ground past where you're supposed to go.
