Helldivers 2 Boss Welcomes GTA 6 Console-Only Launch

The CEO of Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead told IGN he is relieved that GTA 6 will skip PC at launch and release without an online mode. Shams Jorjani argued that Rockstar's strategy reduces the risk of the title swallowing the entire market. GTA 6 is scheduled for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in November as a single-player experience only.

Jorjani's Assessment of Rockstar's Approach

Jorjani stated that Rockstar's decision to launch without PC support or an immediate online component allows titles such as Helldivers 2 to retain their player base. He noted that Rockstar possesses the brand strength to delay features and platforms while still delivering a major success. The executive added that this measured rollout prevents GTA 6 from becoming an all-consuming release for the industry.

On a selfish level I'm happy it’s not hitting PC right away, and that online isn’t dropping at launch.

According to Jorjani, Rockstar can afford to follow an older development model because its core product is expected to perform strongly regardless of platform timing. He suggested this raises standards across the industry while giving established PC games time to adapt. Helldivers 2 continues to draw a steady audience on Steam more than two years after release.
