RockstarINTEL reported claims that Xbox secured exclusive cloud streaming rights for GTA VI from launch. The story referenced an all-hands meeting and positioned the deal as unique among platforms. An Xbox executive later described related coverage as misreporting and confirmed the game will launch on Xbox without exclusive streaming.
Reported Streaming Agreement
According to RockstarINTEL, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma told staff that the company had obtained exclusive rights to stream GTA VI via Xbox Cloud Gaming. The arrangement would allow play on devices including mobile phones and would make Xbox the sole cloud partner. Past collaborations on titles such as GTA V were noted as precedent.
Executive Response and Context
Xbox CSO Matthew Ball posted that excitement around the title had produced misreporting. He stated the game would launch on Xbox on November 19 without exclusive streaming or a PC version at that time.
“While the excitement for GTAVI and XBOX is great to see, it has also led to some misreporting. We are looking forward to launching GTAVI on XBOX November 19, though the game will not be streaming exclusively or to PC.”
