Roughly 180,000 users were watching Grand Theft Auto 6 streams at the time of the report, alongside 80,000 viewing Grand Theft Auto 5 content.
Streamer Activity and Traffic
Creators including Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed were live reacting to the Netflix presentation on Twitch. This allowed many viewers to watch the extended look without a subscription. Twitch stated it received reports of impacted services and is investigating issues such as chat failures and login difficulties.
Unconfirmed Cause
Twitch has not explicitly linked the outage to high traffic from the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer. Eurogamer contacted the company for comment on whether the event caused the strain but received no response at the time of writing.
