Cliff Richard Sees Stream Surge from GTA 6 Trailer

Cliff Richard is experiencing a resurgence in streams for his 1976 single Devil Woman after its inclusion in the GTA 6 Extended Look. The track has recorded a 325 percent rise in daily streams. The 86-year-old performer nevertheless told The Times that he does not understand the game or its scale, according to IGN.

Renewed Interest in 1976 Hit

Devil Woman, originally released on the album I'm Nearly Famous, previously saw a popularity bump from its use in the 2017 film I, Tonya. Its placement in the GTA 6 trailer has produced a far larger effect, with daily streams rising sharply since the Netflix extended look aired.

Richard's Comments on the Exposure

In an interview with The Times, Richard said he learned of the placement only after the fact and described the game as a television show. He noted that his nephew's children reacted strongly to hearing the track and expressed satisfaction that his catalog continues to reach new listeners.

“People will no longer just say, ‘Oh, Cliff Richard is from the past,’ Because I am, but that past is what makes everything what it is today.”
