Players for years reported hearing a creepy witch's cackle when injured in GTA IV—especially after crashing a bike or getting shot. The sound was so unsettling that it spawned conspiracy theories about distorted audio files. In reality, Rockstar simply reused the exact same sound effect that collectible seagulls make in the DLC episodes The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony. What players interpreted as supernatural evil was just a recycled bird noise.
