RockstarINTEL reports an unconfirmed claim from IGN Deals that GTA 6 pre-orders on PS5 are outselling Xbox versions by six to one. A major retailer told The Game Business that hardware shortages will limit console supply through the end of the year. The gap suggests potential record sales, though Take-Two has released no figures.
Retailer Warnings on Console Supply
Retailers have stated that component shortages will prevent them from securing enough PS5 and Xbox Series units before GTA 6 arrives. Demand is expected to exceed available stock during the holiday period, according to the same retailer comments cited by RockstarINTEL.
“We’ve been informed that because of the on-going issues around hardware component availability, we won’t be getting the units we want ahead of GTA 6. Demand will likely outstrip supply during the year-end period.”
Xbox Price Increase and Platform Poll Results
The report notes Xbox raised prices on current-generation hardware, with the Series S now listed at $499. RockstarINTEL’s own X poll showed 70 percent of respondents planning to play on PS5 or PS5 Pro, 24 percent on Xbox Series X, and 5 percent on Series S.
