The haunted screams of GTA IV's Pay 'n' Spray have a bizarre technical explanation.

Players long believed the bloodcurdling screams near Outlook's Pay 'n' Spray were ghosts of female workers killed by toxic paint fumes. In reality, it's a pedestrian spawn glitch: when you exit the garage, the game spawns a pedestrian directly in front of the nearby Perestroika Cabaret Club — and your freshly respawned car immediately runs them over, causing them to scream. You can even find their body on the road if you drive there fast enough.
