Despite being called the Metrotrain, its internal HUD name is 'Freight Train' — but since players can never actually control it, this name is never displayed without mods or trainers. There's also an unused text label calling it 'Metropolitan' that Rockstar left in the game files.

The Metrotrain cruising through Los Santos — everyone calls it that, but the game files know it as something else entirely.
Doors open, but you're still just a passenger — even if you could drive it, 'Freight Train' would never flash on your HUD.
Doors shut, train rolls on — while 'Metropolitan' sits forgotten in the files, another Rockstar leftover that never saw the light.
