A former Rockstar animator has said another delay for GTA 6 would not surprise him. Mike York, who worked on GTA 5 before leaving in 2017, told Indy100 that the studio can do whatever it needs to improve quality. The game is currently set for release on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Former Animator's Assessment
York believes Rockstar may delay the title again and that a further six-month postponement remains possible. He noted the studio has already shifted the date twice, first from Fall 2025 to May 2026 and then to November 2026, each time citing the need for extra polish.
“I would not be shocked at all. I don't think it would hurt them or anything.”
Upcoming Extended Look
Rockstar will air an extended look at GTA 6 on Netflix on August 27. The studio has maintained that any schedule changes serve only to ensure the final product meets its standards.
