Rockstar expects its next major game after GTA 6 to reach players much sooner than the eight-year gap that preceded it. The studio expanded its team and technology during the extended development of GTA 6, creating reusable foundations that should reduce future production times. GameSpot reports the comments from Rockstar's head of development Phil Hooker in an interview with Bloomberg.
Hooker on Reusable Technology
Phil Hooker told Bloomberg that the engine, tools, and expanded team built for GTA 6 will let Rockstar work more quickly on subsequent titles rather than starting from scratch each time.
“The engine, the tools, and the team we've built during this project will allow us to do things more quickly”
Shift Toward Content Expansion
Hooker indicated the studio intends to expand on existing systems instead of repeatedly rebuilding core technology, which should shorten the time between major releases according to GameSpot.
