Rockstar almost gave GTA 6 FOUR protagonists — here's why they didn't.

Rockstar North considered expanding from GTA V's three protagonists to four in GTA VI, but rejected the idea because they believed more characters would dilute emotional investment. Instead, they drew inspiration from Red Dead Redemption 2's single-protagonist approach and created the Relationship System for Jason and Lucia to achieve similar depth through player choice.
