Rockstar knew planes were kamikaze-ing into buildings—and left it in on purpose.

In a 2005 interview, GTA San Andreas developers admitted they were aware that AI planes would crash into buildings because the planes simply fly in straight lines without obstacle detection. They deliberately kept this 'suicidal airplane' behavior in the game because they found it funny.
